Pequot Lakes Communication Director Memorandum of Understanding between Chamber of Commerce, City of Pequot Lakes and Pequot Lakes Public School District#186 General agreement: The Brainerd Lakes/Pequot Lakes Chamber of Commerce, the Pequot Lakes Public School District#186 and the City of Pequot Lakes are entering into an agreement to hire a Communication Director. The job description is attached as Addendum A. In general terms, the person in this position will be responsible for developing a comprehensive plan for marketing the business community, school district and city of Pequot Lakes with an eye toward developing a consistent brand and messaging. Financial obligation of involved parties: In calendar year 2018, each of the three partners will contribute $12,000 annually (to be prorated based on hire date) to the funding of this position. Up to twenty-seven thousand dollars of the $36,000 annual cost will be used to fund the compensation of this part-time Chamber employee. The remaining amount will be placed in a marketing fund to be used as defined by the three parties to carry out the responsibilities of this position. Examples include, but are not limited to, printing and distribution of a newsletter, purchase of graphics and photography and expenses associated with an annual celebratory event. Upon hiring of this employee, the annual amount due will be prorated and the amount billed to the Pequot Lakes School District and the City of Pequot Lakes. Payment is due to the Chamber within 30 days of receipt of the invoice. In subsequent years, $12,000, adjusted for agreed-upon wage increases, etc., will be due from the school district and the city to the Chamber in January. The Chamber will invoice the city and school district. Payment is due to the Chamber within 30 days of receipt of the invoice. Employment status and reporting function: The Communication Director will be employed by the Chamber and, as such, the Chamber is responsible for employment-related benefits consistent with those provided all Chamber employees. The Communication Director will report to the Chamber Director, with input from the city and school district. As is the practice for Chamber employees, a formal perFormance review of the person in this position will be conducted annually in October. The Chamber Director will seek input from the school Superintendent and the City Administrator prior to the review. During the review process a formal work plan with goals for the subsequent year will be developed. Other relevant elements of agreement: The Chamber agrees to provide a workspace and necessary equipment for this individual. Additional software that may be required will either come from the marketing budget or be paid for equally by the three parties. This decision will be made on a case-by-case basis by the three parties. The walking map (as described in Addendum A)will be supported through advertising revenue. The Chamber will be responsible for selling the advertising for this project and will retain 100% of the proceeds.
