AGENDA ITEM #10.9 ct�y of Pequot Lakes� - REPORT TO CITY COUNCIL Report Prepared by: Nancy Malecha Date• January 2, 2018 Subiect: Pequot Lakes Communications Director ', Reaort: A few months ago, the City, Chamber, and School District began discussing the idea of a collaborative Pequot Lakes Communications Director position that would assist all three entities with our communications and maxketing needs. This position will be a part-time position at the Pequot Lakes Chamber Office and would be supervised by the Pequot Lakes Chamber Director; however, a representa.tive from all three entities will be a part of the interview panel. Attached is the job description for this position. Funding for this collaborative position would occur through equal cost sharing between the City, Chamber, and School District. It is estimated that for 2018, the City's shaxe will be appro�mately $12,000 for salary and marketing; however, it was noted that the first da.y of employment may not occur until March 1, 2018 which will reduce the City's 2018 cost share to $10,000. I am recommending that the Council approve this collaborative position as it will allow for greater communications/marketing efficiency and expertise for our community. I further recommend that the City's 2018 cost share amount of$10,000 be funded as follows. • $5,000 from the 2018 EDC budget for marketing • $2,000 from the Initiative Foundation Innovation Funds Grant • $3,000 from the City's general fund balance Council Action Reauested: Council motion approving the collaborative position of a Pequot Lakes Communications Director, to be employed at the Pequot Lakes Chamber Office, supervised by the Pequot Lakes Chamber Director, and funded equally by the City of Pequot Lakes, the Pequot Lakes Chamber, and the Pequot Lakes School District.
