f MEETING OF THE PEQUOT LAKES ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION TUESDAY,DECEMBER 19,2017 PEQUOT LAKES CITY HALL Members Present: Chair Jurchen, Commissioners Clement, Holley, Lindholm, Rieck and Sjoblad Members Absent: Commissioner Lubke Others Present: Dawn Bittner, Zoning Specialist;Nancy Malecha, City Administrator;Nancy Adams, Mayor; Bob Perkins, TDS; Sheila Haverkamp, BLAEDC; Scott Pederson,Council Liaison; Chris Monroe,Pequot Lakes Chamber;Justin Burslie, City Planner, NJPA; Bill Coleman, Community Technology Advisors,via telephone. 1. Call Meeting to Order The meeting was called to order by Chair Jurchen at 8:00 a.m. 2. Approve EDC Minutes COMMISSIONER RIECK MOVED TO APPROVE THE NOVEMBER 21, 2017 ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION MINUTES. COMMISSIONER LINDHOLM SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 6-0. 3. Broadband/Fiber Optic Needs Assessment a. Community Broadband Infrastructure & Services Assessment Tool Chair Jurchen pointed out information had been included in the meeting materials on two surveys. The first survey would look at what is available in the community and the other is available online on Survey Monkey for business owners to complete. The Commission reviewed the Community Broadband Infrastructure and Services Assessment Tool with a score of 24. Mr. Coleman staxed this score is typical for communities the size of Pequot Lakes with a provider mix. Most people don't have the accessibility they need. b. Survey&deadline Chair Jurchen pointed out the second survey of the businesses is set up on Survey Monkey. We are looking to find out what people need and have. Bob Perkins stated the EDC will gain a perception and line up with reality. Nancy Malecha stated the survey link was a preview. She will work with Ann from Blandin Foundation to finalize the questions and will provide the new link. Each
