Mayor I <br /> Adams stated that a variance is unlikely. I <br /> 5. Presentations � <br /> 5.1. Bud�et/Lew— Public Hearing <br /> A. Budaet and Lew Presentations <br /> Nancy Malecha gave a presentation on the following information and <br /> explained how property taxes are calculated. <br /> • The general revenue tax levy of$1,621,770 <br /> • Tax abatement levy of$16,015 <br /> • The total levy amount of$1,637,785 <br /> • The HRA levy of$38,250 <br /> B. Public Hearinq on Budc�ets and Levies <br /> Mayor Adams opened the public hearing. <br /> Michael Czech, 3816 Wildlife Trail, addressed the Council. Mr. Czech <br /> stated that he reviewed the City's budget expenditures. He explained <br /> his zero based budget technique and suggested budget cuts. Mr. <br /> Czech would like the City to utilize this technique in the future. <br /> There being no further comments, Mayor Adams closed the public <br /> hearing. <br /> C. Adoption of 2018 Citv Budqets <br /> Mayor Adams stated that the Council and Staff worked very hard and <br /> there are a number of unusual expenses for 2018. Mayor Adams <br /> clarified that the new Public Works employee will not necessarily start <br /> in July and will be doing a lot more than snowplowing. <br /> Michael Czech questioned road turn back expenditures, the new Public <br /> Works employee, and the allocation of unspent budget monies. Mayor <br /> Adams stated the County would be taking care of the roads until <br /> possibly April or May of 2018. Nancy Malecha explained the monies <br /> will stay in the General Fund if they are not used for a budgeted item. <br /> D. Consider Tax Lew Resolutions <br />
