ORDINANCE NUMBER i�-o4, SECOND SERIES <br /> ,` AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 1� OF THE CITY CODE <br /> REGARDING A FLOODPLAIN MANAGEMENT <br /> OVERLAY DISTRICT <br /> CITY OF PEQUOT I.AKES <br /> COUN1'Y OF CROW WING <br /> STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> The City Council of the City of Pequot Lakes does ordain as follows: <br /> Purpose and Intent: The purpose and intent of this ordinance is to amend Chapter <br /> i�of the Pequot Lakes City Code relating to a Floodplain Management Overlay District. <br /> Amendment: Chapter i�,Article 6, Overlay Districts and District Provisions shall be <br /> amended to add a new Section 1�-6.8 as follows: <br /> Section 1�-6.8 FLOODPLAIN MANAGEMENT OVERLAY DISTRICT <br /> i.o Statutory Authorization and Purpose: <br /> i.l Statutory Authorization: The le�islature of the State of Minnesota <br /> has, in Minnesota Statutes Chapter iogF and Cha�ter 462, <br /> �... delegated the res�onsibility to local government units to ado�t <br /> regulations designed to minimize flood losses. <br /> 1.2 Purpose: <br /> 1.2i This ordinance re�ulates development in the flood hazard <br /> areas of Pequot Lakes. These flood hazard areas are subject <br /> to �eriodic inundation�which may result in loss of life and <br /> propertX, health and safet_y hazards, disru�tion of commerce <br /> and governmental services, e�raordinary public <br /> ex�enditures for flood protection and relief, and im�airment <br /> of the ta�c base.
