Wildlife Trail
Mayor Adams stated that there was a request by the residents on Idlife
Trail to plow snow on their road which is a private road. She added there
are 24 private roads within the City and the City should not se# a
precedence by plowing Wildlife Trail.
Council Member Pederson suggested looking at the possibility of charging
them to plow snow and added that the City is getting another plow truck
and an additional Public Works employee in 2018 and the Public Works
Department may have extra time.
Council Member Akerson explained that if the City takes on the snow
plowing of Wildlife Trai! there will be 23 other private roads that the City
may need to consider as well. He noted that a lot of the private roads are
too narrow with no tumarounds and it would be time consuming for the
City to take care of them.
Mayor Adams suggested waiting another year to see if there will be extra
time in the Public Works Department to consider this issue.
Michael Czech of 3816 Wildlife Trail, Pequot Lakes commented that the
residents on Wildlife Trail made road improvements in 2014 to the
requirements of Sibley Lake Township at that time. Mr. Czech added that
they have made efforts to blacktop Wildlife Trail but it was too expensive
for the residents.
Council Member Swanson questioned if they have met the requirements
for Wildlife Trail to be a City road. Mr. Czech stated they meet the
definition of a City road but they cannot afford to blacktop it. He further
noted that 66% of the roads in Minnesota are gravel roads that are being
maintained.
