The 1�0�'a�niversary street dance was held ore August 5"'from 8 prr�to midnight.The original Vl/yld Ryce Bart�d that piayed for our street dances in th�1980's regrouped�nd pe�formed.Appraximately 3000 people attended the event.There were three fovd vendqrs avaifa6le. Bee�and root beer were sold usi�g Pequ�ot Lakes Gorremunity A,ction's insurance�nd permit.We felt vve cauld not do the everot murs�ives so we partnered with Pequot Core�omunity Action.�otal preagit for the event was $8196.00.Our share was$3500.00.The event was successf�l and 6oth our groups decided to do the event next year on August 4"'.Wyld Ryce Band has agreed to return for next year's dance. Fire Prevention was celebrated during the s�cond week of October.Fourteen fire fighters went to Eagle View EEementary School on October 11"'to offer fire preveretion ciasses to kindergarten thru second gaade students.We hosted our annual apen house Wednesday,October].2�'frorrt 4 to 7 prrt.Features were a bouncey hoase and the educat�onal Safety House owned by the Cuyuna Range Fire Associat�on.Hot dogs,chips,cookies,popcom,&koml-aid were served.A 100�'anniversary �ake was al�served.Ther�were also flre truck�ides and a kitchen grease fire demonstration.Fire preventio�n rreatenais passed out included fire helmets,trading cards,an all-purpose hand bag with kitchen fire safety information,and several brochures offering fire safety ideas.This year had the best attendance ever for our open house.We rece�ved$478.Q0 in danations. Fire Department retirees for the quarter were Brian�venson witF� 15 years of service and Bob Pe�erson I!(Tasty Ptua�with 22 years of service. We see�t out 6000 brochures to proper�y owroers in our fire district last spring expressing our concerns and mor�etary needs to meet our goals.�inanc6al receipts in response to our Ietter totai $8652.00 to date.We wili send thank you card to all the generous people who donat�d. Our Expiorer prograrn has not been productive recentfy.We have onl�1 active member,w�o happens to be Chief Nelson's daughter.Plans are#o re-activate our program with new ideas appealing to our younger generation. Our Departmenfi has 25 members currently after our last two retirees.Tt�e waiting list for new fi�e fighters is not good.This problem is state wide and will not go away soon. Hopes are the Explorer pro�c�am may help tur�n this around in the future. Our next meeting is plarmed for Wednesday,January 31,2018 at the fire station.This will be our A►ronual meeting.
