PEQUOT LAKES PLANNING COMMISSION/
BOARD OF A,TLTSTMENT
REGULAR MEETING
August i, 2oi
PRESENT: Todd Engels, Bill Habein, Mark Mortenson, Nathan Norton, and Brian
Wallin. ABSENT: Mark Hallan and Wesley Wilson.
CITY PLANNER: Justin Burslie, NJPA
ZONING SPECIALIST: Dawn Bittner
COUNCIL LIAISON: Absent
Chair Engels called the meeting to order at 6:0o PM.
PUBLIC HFARING: None.
ADDITIONS OR DELETIONS TO AGENDA:
Zoning Specialist Bittner removed 6. a.from the Agenda. Mr. Schoeb requested this
item be included on the September Planning Commission Agenda.
OPEN FORUM:
Jack Schmidt, Pequot Lakes, addressed the Planning Commission regarding
enforcement letters that have been sent by Staff. His points were:
• In 20 Staff sent a letter to the American Legion Club regarding weeds. The Boy
Scouts had built a wild flower garden retaining wall. The Legion makes
numerous contributions to the area annually. The letter was harassing. Common
sense would have been to knock on the door and have a conversation.
• Mr. Schmidt passed out pictures he took in 2oii of the designated parks in the
Field of Dreams development. The designated parks have weeds growing and are
not mowed. He wondered why the rules apply to some people and why the City
isn't responsible.
• Mr. Schmidt stated his son had received a letter from Staff that he was in
violation for a dead tree and weeds in the flower garden.
• Mr. Schmidt passed out pictures taken July 3i, 2oiof the City owned lot in the
Industrial Park that hasn't been mowed and has weeds growing on it.
MINUTES i
Pequot Lakes Planning Commission
August i, 2oi
