Thrivin�Communities Initiative Upda.te <br /> Nancy Malecha reported through the T'hriving Cornmunities Initiative(TCI) the <br /> creation of the Pequot Lakes Community Foundaxion to improve the quality of life in <br /> the geographic region that includes the cities of Pequot Lakes, Breezy Point and <br /> Jenkins and the townships of Ideal, Jenkins, Loon Lake and Maple. The group is <br /> looking for 8 members to serve on the Advisory Board to the Community Foundation. <br /> The application for the Advisory Boazd is available on the City website. <br /> Commissioner Lindholm sta.ted the Patriot Foundation is looking for a few more <br /> members. <br /> Chair Jurchen sta.ted the website is now live at www.pequotlakes.org. Facebook is <br /> also up and running. The link to the website will be put on the City website, as well <br /> as the school website. <br /> Chair Jurchen also reported the TCI Task Forces have addressed signage. MN/DOT <br /> has their directional signage along the highway. A community sign on the Babinski <br /> property is being discussed, as well as qualiTy billboazds. The Planning Commission <br /> is working on a policy for Trailblazing Signs along Patriot Avenue and will bring a <br /> recommendation to the City Council in September. It was suggested the Planning <br /> Commission consider including service organizations such as the Rotazy,Lions and <br /> Legion. <br /> Chair Jurchen shared a copy of a letter that will be sent out to business owners <br /> outlining activities taking place through the TCI. The letter includes a self-survey for <br /> the businesses to review. <br /> 6. School U te <br /> Commissioner Lindholm stated the Maintenance Facility has been rebuilt and the <br /> parking lot will be completed before school starts. The District is seeing a net gain of <br /> 55 new families for the new school year. <br /> 7. Chamber Update <br /> No update given. <br /> 8. BLAEDC Update <br /> No upda.te given. <br />
