City Council Minutes <br /> September 5, 2017 <br /> Page 3 of 10 <br /> ----------------------------- <br /> Council Member Swanson inquired who will be responsible for <br /> snowplowing the roads this winter before the roads are released in the <br /> spring. Mr. Howieson stated MnDOT will be plowing Patriot Avenue this <br /> winter but priority will be given to the new State Highway 371. MnDOT will <br /> again reimburse the City to plow the other miscellaneous side roads this <br /> winter until the release of the roads in the spring. <br /> 5.3 2018 Preliminary Levy <br /> Nancy Malecha informed the Council on the 2018 preliminary budgets and <br /> levies. The General Revenue Tax Levy equates ta$1,677,050 which is a <br /> 6.02% increase from 2017. The Tax Abatement L�vy equates to $16,015 <br /> which is a 3.95% increase from 2017. The HRA Special Levy equates to <br /> $38,250 which is a zero change from 2017. <br /> Council Member Pederson stated that he would like to see the Po(ice <br /> Department decrease their budget due to the loss of the police contract <br /> with Jenkins Township. The consensus of the Council agreed to direct the <br /> Police Department to reduce their 2018 preliminary budget by$20,000 <br /> due to the loss of the police contract with Jenkins Township. <br /> COUNCIL MEMBER LOUKOTA MOYED TO ADOPT RESOLUTION 17- <br /> 28 SETTING THE CITY OF PEQUOT LAKES PRELIMINARY 2018 TAX <br /> LEVIES WITH THE ADDITION OF A DIRECTIVE FOR THE POLICE <br /> DEPARTMENT TO REDUCE THEtR BUDGET BY$20,000. <br /> • GENERAL REVENUE PROPERTY TAX LEVY -$1,677,050 <br /> • TAX ABATEMENT LEVY-$16,015 <br /> � HRA SPECIAL LEVY -$38,250 <br /> COUNCIL MEMBER PEDERSON SECONDED THE MOTION.
