We charged for 1 hour of -IN <br />service because we were aware the owner had no insurance and the loss of the <br />garage and contents already created a financial hardship. A pump engine got stuck <br />off to the side of the driveway and caused some ruts on her property. Extensive <br />discussion followed. Donovan motioned the Fire Board recommend the bill for <br />$600.00 should not be lowered due to the fact the bill should have been $1300.00. <br />The motion was second by Weaver, motion passed. <br />The board continued the discussion of the property devalauation for the City of <br />Breezy Point from our last meeting. Sodd stated all of us pay our fair share for fire <br />contracts. Benson added this impact could happen to any of our areas. The court <br />decision granted a lower value to Breezy Point resort property valued at 26 million <br />to be lowered to 7 million. This was also retroactive to the previous year because the <br />court's decision was a two year process. The impact to Breezy Point's fire contract <br />cost was approximately $1875.00 according to charts provided by the Pequot Lakes <br />City Clerk. Dubay motioned the Fire Board on the synopis of being fair to all allow <br />a one time credit to the City of Breezy Point for $1875.95, second by Bartels, motion <br />passed unanimous. <br />Mayor Weaver stated Crow Wing County offers a list of the most probable 200 <br />property owners in Crow Wing County whose property values could be reduced. <br />We should be aware of this information that could impact our contracted areas in <br />the future. <br />McNerney thought the tax impact from future reductions of property values could <br />impact the lower valued property owners the hardest. <br />Benson warned the Fire Department to watch future budgets and not be <br />extravagant in our needs. Township funds are limited as the economic conditions <br />are stressing everyone. <br />The Department has to fund several government mandated regulations for safety <br />and responsibility to the public. These regulations are stemming from public <br />awareness, insurance companies requirements, OSHA, many government funded <br />groups or associations, and the legal system with influence from court decisions and <br />lawyers. Weaver mentioned medical situations are all recorded on a nationwide <br />basis which provides statistics these previously groups use to make decisions. <br />The Department recently revised its by -laws to help improve attendance at fire calls, <br />trainings, and meetings. Our Fire Chief is responsible to make sure our fire fighters <br />are complying with rules and regulations in order to do the job the public requires <br />of us. <br />Our next meeting will be January 25, 2012 at 7 pm at the fire station. <br />The meeting was adjourned. <br />
