PEQUOT LAKES COMMUNITY LIBRARY ADNIINISTRATIVE POLICY
DRESS CODE
Responsibility: Volunteer Coordinator
Revised: June 20,2017
The Library enjoys an excellent reputation among the citizens of Pequot Lakes. While there are
many reasons for this reputa.tion, one of the ways to help maintain this reputa.tion is for all
volunteers to present a professional image to the public. It is important that the public has
confidence in the volunteers and the volunteers have confidence/pride in themselves when
transacting business. To help preserve this image and foster public confidence, volunteers must
dress appropriately for their work assignment. The Volunteer Coordinator will discuss
inappropriate dress with individual volunteers.
Guidelines
Staff will wear clean and well-maintained attire appropriate to the type of work they do. Shoes are
required and must also be well-maintained. Good grooming is required. In compliance with this
policy, the following are examples of unaccepta.ble attire:
- torn,patchedlfaded clothing - halter tops
- tube tops - tank tops
- muscle shirts - strapless sun dresses
- shorts shorter than mid-thigh - shirts with slogans or large letter advertising
- sweat suits/warm-up suits; sweat pants - thong type sandals
Because of varied work assignments and working conditions,it is not practical to esta, blish specific
and absolute criteria as to what is or is not appropriate dress.
In consideration of volunteers and patrons who may be allergic to perfumes or other scents,
moderation should be exercised by all volu.nteers when using scented products.
If you experience an allergic reaction or sensitivity to a fragrance in the Library, please speak with
the Volunteer Coordinator. All such issues will be dealt with on an individual basis.
34
