Economic Development Commission Minutes <br /> July 18, 2017 <br /> Page 3 of 4 <br /> ----------------------------------------------------------- <br /> The Economy Tax Force has created a Facebook page. The Chamber wants to add an <br /> app. The Planning Commission is working on directional signs. There has been <br /> discussion about a Community sign. <br /> The Quality of Life Task Force is working with Trailside Park expansion and Jim <br /> Parks is working on the website. A $5,000 grant was received to assist with the <br /> website. The slogan has been registered with the State and national registration has <br /> begun. <br /> Mayor Adams reported a grant for$1,700 had been received for final design of the <br /> Skate Board Park. The location may need to be moved further south as the proposed <br /> location may be needed for a storm water pond. The pond may need to be fenced <br /> which may have a negative visual impact. To move the pond further south will cost <br /> approximately$175,000 more. The new location for the park may be too far away <br /> from the main park. <br /> COMMISSIONER LUBKE MOVED TO SPEND $500 FROM THE EDC <br /> BUDGET TO UPDATE GOOGLE MAPS. COMMISSIONER HOLLEY <br /> SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 6-0. <br /> 7. School Update <br /> No update. <br /> 8. Chamber Update <br /> No update. <br /> 9. BLAEDC Update <br /> Sheila Haverkamp has heard that additional signage would help get traffic back into <br /> the business corridor. <br /> In addition, CTC and Crow Wing Power are working on a unified fund and hope to <br /> have a multi-million dollar fund to make loans, including Pequot Lakes. <br /> 10. City of Jenkins Update <br /> Commissioner Lubke reported they will be opening bids for their frontage road this <br /> fall. In addition, Jenkins has been working with the State regarding a turn lane at <br /> Veterans and Lilac. That should be constructed this fall. <br /> 11. Other Business <br /> There was no other business. <br />
