Park Commission Minutes
July 13, 2017
Page 2
-------------------------
5. Skate Park— Update
To move the storm water basin south of the preferred location will cost the City
an additional $175,000. There will be no additional cost if the skate park is
located south of the "preferred location". There is plenty of room for the skate
park. The "preferred location" is 110 ft. x 515 ft. with a setback 10 ft. from the
Trail and 1 ft. from Patriot Avenue and Woodman Street. The "preferred location"
is part of right-of-way as well as the area south of the preferred location. Dawn
Bittner stated the Commission can get a detailed design for a skate park of 100
ft. x 100 ft. Chair Ronning stated that Eric Dahlberg has equipment to set up a
temporary skate park. He also suggested a parking section at Sibley Lake Park.
Chair Ronning will speak with Mr. Dahlberg as to what space is needed for the
temporary skate park.
6. Art in the Park
Discussion ensued regarding leaving the art up during the winter months. This
option will hopefully prevent any snowmobilers hitting the posts.
7. Dog Park Tree Replacement
Mayor Adams stated that the Wilsons will replace the tree within the park that
was broke off in the large area. Mayor Adams stated Community Action will
purchase a tree to plant in the small section of the dog park.
8. New Water Tower— Possibly Paint
Discussion ensued regarding painting the new water tower like the Bobber Tower
because the Bobber Tower is not visible from the express way. Chair Ronning
proposed a discussion regarding the budget for 2018 at the next meeting.
9. Other Business
Discussion ensued regarding signs for tobacco-free areas. Chair Ronning shared
an example of a non-smoking sign.
Commissioner Nagel proposed to put banners on the light posts on the new
County Road 11 Bridge.
10.
