PEQUOT LAKES PARK COMMISSION <br /> THURSDAY, JULY 13, 2017 <br /> CITY HALL <br /> Members Present: Chair Ronning, Commissioners Bryan, Graham, Nagel, Pearson <br /> and Sjoblad <br /> Members Absent: Commissioner Jurchen <br /> Also Present: Mike Loven, Public Works Supervisor; Dawn Bittner, Zoning <br /> Specialist; Mayor Nancy Adams <br /> 1. Call Meeting to Order <br /> Chair Ronning called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m. <br /> 2. Consider Agenda <br /> COMMISSIONER NAGEL MOVED TO APPROVE THE AGENDA. <br /> COMMISSIONER BRYAN SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION CARRIED <br /> 6-0. <br /> 3. Park Commission Minutes <br /> COMMISSIONER PEARSON MOVED TO APPROVE THE JUNE 8, 2017 PARK <br /> COMMISSION MINUTES AS READ. COMMISSIONER GRAHAM SECONDED <br /> THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 6-0. <br /> 4. Roundabouts Landscaping - Update <br /> Commissioner Nagel provided a seed catalog of wildflowers for commission to <br /> consider as a maintenance free option. Commissioner Graham would like to <br /> plant vibrant colorful florals in the roundabouts to make the entrance to Pequot <br /> Lakes inviting and beautiful. Commissioner Graham also brought up the fact that <br /> we need volunteers for maintenance on the roundabouts. Commissioner Graham <br /> suggested incorporating a bobber into the design. Mike Loven pointed out that <br /> the maintenance department will not have time in 2018 to maintain or water the <br /> roundabouts. Mike Loven looked into an acre of wildflower seed which would be <br /> $290 for the seed. Commissioner Sjoblad commented that there are no plantings <br /> that are maintenance free. Commissioner Bryan and Mayor Adams suggested <br /> talking to master gardeners to get estimates and suggestions on which plants will <br /> work. Mayor Adams will speak with Tim Leagjeld about a creative design. <br /> Commissioner Graham asked for a copy of MnDOT's guidelines for the project. <br />
