The City of Pequot Lakes indicated that the design of Government Drive in was
pending Council approval. The City inquired as to what the County wanted
done. Rob Hall recommended that the City design Government Drive with the
understanding that CSAH 11 from the new bypass to the current TH 371
intersection would be turned back to the City. Rob also indicated the City
should plan to take over responsibility of the existing TH 371 when the bypass is
completed as the County is not interested in maintaining that segment for the
long term.
2. Eagle View Elementary — This subarea focuses on the access to the school as
well as Breezy Point commercial /industrial development around the school.
Short and long term recommendations will be provided. A long range vision will
be developed that will likely incorporate access consolidation / management
improvements to maintain the safety, mobility, and capacity of the roadways
and businesses.
3. Ranchette Drive - This subarea in Breezy Point focuses on the intersection of
Ranchette Drive and CSAH 11. This subarea was added based on comments
received at the meeting. Access to the bar and hockey arena, as well as the
likely expansion of the arena, and potential hotel and convenience store will be
evaluated. Short and long term recommendations will be provided. A long range
vision will be developed that will likely incorporate access consolidation /
management improvements to maintain the safety, mobility, and capacity.
4. CSAH 11 Trail — This subarea will provide a high level look at the feasibility and
cost of providing a trail between Pequot Lakes and Breezy Point along CSAH 11.
Discussion by the group indicated that a bike group from Jenkins was spear
heading an effort to get an off -road CSAH 11 bike trail planned between Pequot
Lakes and Breezy Point. It was recommended that Sue Galligan from the
Chamber of Commerce be contacted to gain further information.
5. Ackerson Road / Buschmann Road —This subarea will look at this corridor,
which is north of CSAH 11. This corridor provides a straight east -west
connection between TH 371 and CSAH 11, east of Breezy Point. The roadways
generally follow the lay of the land and are very hilly and curvy, and
substandard. The subarea study will evaluate the cost and feasibility to improve
the corridor to County Road standards.
c. Review Schedule
A project schedule was distributed. The front end of this schedule was out of date, since
the study effort began late. The project will conclude in March 2012. The project team
intends on wrapping up Phase 1 in November 2011. Public open houses will be held
during Phase 2.
d. Discuss 2012 Overlay Project
Luke Wehseler from the County discussed the 2012 project. This project will provide a
1.5" Mill and Overlay of the driving lanes of CSAH 11 between Pequot Lakes (TH 371)
and Breezy Point (CSAH 4). The paved shoulders are less than 10 years old and in good
shape, therefore no work is anticipated on the shoulders. The sidewalks along CSAH 11
in Pequot Lakes are not to ADA standards today. This project will trigger the need to
H: \CWC0\T42103934 \meetings \Task Force \Task Force Meeting 1 \Task Force 1 Minutes (9- 29- 11).docx
