June 2017 Traffic Engineering Manual Chapter 6 <br /> 6-7.09.02 Specific Service Signing Program (D9-X6) <br /> The Specific Service Signing Program was mandated by the 1980 Legislature +. <br /> under Minn. Stat. Sec. 160.292 to 160.298. See these statutes for complete 4 P R N E 'R E S O R T <br /> legislative intent. <br /> 1981 -Permitted the inclusion of motels. <br /> 1984-Permitted the inclusion of restaurants. <br /> 1988-Added rural agricultural businesses and places of worship. <br /> 1989-Added tourist-oriented businesses. <br /> 1996 -Added gasoline service station or other retail motor fuel business and optional business panel <br /> (logo). <br /> Definitions: <br /> 1. Specific Service - restaurants, rural agricultural or tourist-oriented businesses, places of worship, <br /> gasoline service stations or other retail motor fuel businesses, motels, resorts, and recreational <br /> camping areas. <br /> 2. Specific Service Sign - a rectangular sign panel no greater than 72" x 18" displaying the name or <br /> optional business panel, or both, of the specific service, the direction to, and where appropriate the <br /> distance to the facility. <br /> 3. Specific Service Sign Assembly-a combination of specific service sign panels on a single sign structure <br /> are to be placed within the right-of-way on appropriate approaches to an intersection or interchange. <br /> MnDOT allows a maximum of four sign panels on a sign structure. <br /> 4. Specific Service Sign Cluster-a grouping of specific service sign assemblies on appropriate approaches <br /> to an intersection or interchange. <br /> Page 6-55 <br />
