State Building Code <br /> Dawn Bittner explained that the Planning Commission has discussed <br /> adopting the State Building Code and remains at a stalemate. The <br /> Planning Commission recommended that the Council schedule a special <br /> meeting to receive information and invite public comment. <br /> COUNCIL MEMBER AKERSON MOVED TO SCHEDULE A SPECIAL <br /> MEETING FOR THE COUNCIL TO MEET JOINTLY WITH THE <br /> PLANNING COMMISSION ON THURSDAY, JULY 20TH AT 6:00 PM TO N' <br /> COLLECT INFORMATION AND RECEIVE PUBLIC COMMENT <br /> REGARDING ADOPTION OF THE STATE BUILDING CODE. COUNCIL <br /> MEMBER SWANSON SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED <br /> 3-0. <br /> 7. Fire <br /> The April 26, 2017 Fire Board Meeting minutes were received by Council. <br /> 7.1. Request to Hire Firefighters <br /> Nancy Malecha noted that the Fire Department currently has 25 active <br /> volunteer firefighters on staff and has approval for 30 firefighters. <br /> Interviews were conducted on May 8th and the recommendation is to hire <br /> Dalton Engholm and Josh Foote. <br /> COUNCIL MEMBER AKERSON MOVED TO AUTHORIZE THE HIRING <br /> OF DALTON ENGHOLM AND JOSH FOOTE AS VOLUNTEER <br /> FIREFIGHTERS. COUNCIL MEMBER SWANSON SECONDED THE <br /> MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 3-0. <br /> 8. Police <br /> 9. Public Works <br /> 9.1. Street Quadrant Storm Water Study <br /> Tim Houle reviewed the preliminary study for addressing the storm water <br /> drainage plan for the southeast quadrant of the downtown area. <br /> Mayor Adams questioned if the proposed location of the storm water basin <br /> could serve a dual role as the skate park. Mr. Houle gave examples of <br /> athletic fields also utilized as storm water basins. <br />
