Planning Commission Member Mortenson stated he believes the State Building Code <br /> should be enforced. He has worked many years in the building trades. There are a lot of <br /> handymen that shouldn't be doing what they do. <br /> Planning Commission Member Hallan stated adopting the State Building Code will limit <br /> some people from building,but it has its advantages. <br /> Planning Commission Member Wallin stated he is in favor of having a process of <br /> inspection without being tied to the Building Code. We could hold to the standard of the <br /> State Building Code. That would give the City the teeth to inspect. <br /> Planning Commission Member Hallan asked if that would give the inspector the right to <br /> enter the property. <br /> Chair Engels stated he owns several rental properties. If it is going to cost him more to <br /> make repairs he will need to pass the costs on to the renters. <br /> It was the consensus of the Planning Commission to notify the City Council they are at a <br /> stalemate: 3 in favor, 3 opposed and 1 undecided. There have been no comments <br /> received from contractors,businesses or others. A workshop should be scheduled for <br /> the City Council to receive information and invite public comment. Members of the <br /> Planning Commission who can attend will attend. <br /> APPROVAL OF MINUTES: <br /> A motion was made by Planning Commission Member Wilson, seconded by <br /> Planning Commission Member Hallan,to approve the April 20, 2017 <br /> Minutes. All members voted"aye". Motion carried. <br /> P&Z ADMINISTRATOR'S REPORT: <br /> Bittner pointed out the 3 permits issued and the 19 letters sent and received. The <br /> following Potential Violations/Enforcement Actions were discussed: <br /> 1. Virgil Dahl - <br /> 2. John and Barbara Derksen — <br /> 3. David Clark— <br /> 4. Robert and Kimberly Swenson — <br /> 5.
