Workforce—Chris Lindholm provided the update. Mr. Lindholm noted that the lack of
actionable items for the Workforce Task Force is making it difficult to sustain this group as
Pequot Lakes Schools currently has an internship program in place, the EDC is taking the lead on
the broadband effort, and the relaunching of the Patriot Foundation will aid in supporting our
great schools. The next Patriot Foundation meeting will be held on June 7th.
Michelle Kiley explained that the business side of the Workforce Task Force may need to be
considered and addressed such as labor force needs.
3. Marketing Plan
Nancy Malecha explained the reasoning for this agenda item was to make sure there was no
duplication of work on marketing ideas within the task forces. The Economy Task Force is
working on the branding and the Facebook page components and the Quality of Life Task Force
is working on the website component. Jenna Crawford noted that future administration of the
website, good procedures in place, and people working together will be important to consider
as the website project moves forward.
4. Funding Mechanisms
Nancy Adams noted that Community Action of Pequot Lakes can be utilized as a short-term fix
for smaller donations and grants but cannot handle large donations. The consensus of the
Committee agreed to proceed with a broad community foundation through the Initiative
Foundation for larger donations. Nancy Malecha will contact Kristi Ackley at the Initiative
Foundation to get this process started.
Michelle Kiley informed the Committee that she received an inquiry from an interested party in
Breezy Point to collaborate with Pequot Lakes to create a partner fund. The consensus of the
Committee agreed that the purpose of this partner fund needs to be addressed before an
answer can be given. This item will be place on next month's agenda for an update from Ms.
Kiley.
5. Innovation Funds Grant Update
Michelle Kiley noted the grant has been submitted by the City and she has some follow-up
questions that she will address with Nancy Malecha.
6. TCI Feedback and Survey
Michelle Kiley requested feedback from the Committee on the TCI experience. The following
feedback was given.
• The process was great.
• Task force coordination and when to engage City committees and leadership has been
difficult to determine.
• Money needed to get the work done.
• Issues are sorting themselves out with time.
