Moreover, Crow Wing County Tax Forfeited lands are independent third party certified to the Forest <br /> Stewardship Council(FSC) and Sustainable Forestry Initiative(SFI). Certification involves <br /> rigorous and demanding audits that validate that Crow Wing County managed public forestlands are <br /> managed in a responsible and sustainable way.During project planning and implementation on <br /> every forest management activity,county Natural Resource Managers are required to use the <br /> Voluntary Site-Level Guidelines as prescribed by the State of Minnesota. The guidelines provide a <br /> set of integrated strategies that allow resource managers the flexibility to balance forest management <br /> needs and resource sustainability including water and visual quality,recreation consideration, and <br /> conifer retention strategies. <br /> Crow Wing County offered these two timber sales at our fall, 2015 timber auction. The County also <br /> plans to implement the following additional practices to preserve, protect and enhance habitat, <br /> water quality and the visual qualities of the timber harvest: <br /> • Large reserve areas are incorporated into the timber sale design to limit the apparent size of <br /> the timber harvest.
