Page 1 of 2 <br /> MEETING OF THE PEQUOT LAKES TCI STEERING COMMITTEE <br /> WEDNESDAY,MARCH 15,2017 <br /> PEQUOT LAKES CITY HALL <br /> Members Present: Craig Fink,Workforce Task Force; Chris Lindholm, Pequot Lakes Schools; <br /> Nancy Malecha,City of Pequot Lakes;Jenna Crawford, Pequot Lakes Chamber; <br /> Michelle Kiley, Initiative Foundation; Mark Jurchen, Economy Task Force and <br /> Pequot Lakes Economic Development Commission; Dan Frank, Initiative <br /> Foundation;and Jim Park,Quality of Life Task Force <br /> Others Present: Nancy Vogt, Echo/Journal <br /> 1. Welcome and Review Role of the Steering Committee <br /> Dan Frank explained that the role of the Initiative Foundation moving forward will be as a <br /> resource and the Steering Committee will be the coordinating body of the Pequot Lakes TCI <br /> Program. Mr. Frank noted that it would be good to have a member of the press present at the <br /> Steering Committee meetings to keep the community informed on the progress of the TCI <br /> program. The Initiative Foundation currently has a$5,000 Innovation Funds grant application <br /> available online at www.ifound.org with a deadline date of March 31st that the Committee <br /> should consider applying for. <br /> 2. Task Force Reports <br /> Quality of Life—Jim Park informed the Committee that the Quality of Life Task Force has met <br /> twice and there may be a need to form subcommittees due to the size of their group. They have <br /> provided recommendations regarding the Trailside Park Master Plan amenity themes to the City <br /> and they are discussing fundraising ideas for Trailside Park amenities which includes grant <br /> writing and private investments,community events for local residents, and the consolidation of <br /> various community websites and marketing tools. Molly Zins and Jim Park are the co-chairs. <br /> Economy—Mark Jurchen explained that the Economy Task Force is looking at community <br /> branding ideas,creating an inviting gateway from the Highway 371 alternate route,and a <br /> community vision statement. Members of this Task Force contacted various organizations to <br /> find out what their identity is for Pequot Lakes. A vision statement for Pequot Lakes is a high <br /> priority and they are discussing options to personalize vision statements already received. They <br /> are seeking assistance from Kristen Larsen who has worked with the Pequot Lakes School <br /> District on marketing. Bruce Meade and Mark Jurchen are the co-chairs. <br /> Workforce—Chris Lindholm informed the Committee that the Workforce Task Force met once <br /> thus far and heard information from the high school counselor and they are reaching out to <br /> businesses in the area to create an internship database. This task force is trying to determine <br /> what actionable item can be accomplished in relation to increased technology services in our <br /> area. They hope to create a position statement on this topic and bring this before the Pequot <br /> Lakes Economic Development Commission. Craig Fink and Melissa Birch are the co-chairs. <br /> 3. U of M CURA Cap Program and Center for Small Town Assistance <br />
