City of <br /> Pequot AGENDA ITEM # 6.2.A <br /> Lakes= <br /> REPORT TO <br /> CITY COUNCIL <br /> Report Prepared by: Dawn Bittner <br /> Date: March 7, 2017 <br /> Subject: Ordinance Amendment Regarding Minimum Lot Size <br /> in the Transitional Residential Zone <br /> Report: The Transitional Residential Zone is to provide a <br /> residential classification that serves as a medium-density buffer <br /> between higher-density zones and areas of lower density. The <br /> Transitional Residential and Rural Residential Zones both had <br /> minimum lot sizes of 5 acres. The Planning Commission <br /> unanimously recommends the ordinance be amended to reduce the <br /> minimum lot size to 2.5 acres and minimum lot width to 150 feet <br /> in the Transition Residential Zone, based on the following Finding <br /> of Fact: <br /> 1. The amendment creates a more flexible ordinance that allows <br /> property owners the ability to subdivide larger existing tracts. <br /> Council Action Requested: <br /> A. Council Motion to Amend the Ordinance to reduce the <br /> minimum lot size to 2.5 acres and the minimum lot width to 150 <br /> feet in the Transition Residential Zone, based on the one Finding <br /> of Fact. <br /> B. Council Motion authorizing Summary Publication. <br />
