Park Commission Minutes
December 8, 2016
Page 3
Commissioners Nagel and Adams met with the Forestry Division of the DNR
regarding the Fire Tower. The DNR wants to get rid of the fire tower, possibly
selling it to the City. It is not up to standards and the cost for an inspection is
$18,000 and $100,000 to dismantle it. This subject will come up again as they
want to get rid of it. Mr. Graham asked how much the DNR will pay the City to
take it. Commissioner Nagel stated each piece of state land has to bring in
revenue, such as a lease payment, sale of product, etc. He further stated at the
Thriving Communities meetings there is discussion to make Pequot Lakes a
destination and with the new highway construction completed, all of a sudden the
Fire Tower is visible. No timeframe was given by the DNR.
7. Adjournment
There being no further business, COMISSIONER NAGEL MOVED TO
ADJOURN THE MEETING. COMISSIONER BRUCH SECONDED THE
MOTION. THE MOTION CARRIED 6-0.
The meeting adjourned at 5:30 p.m.
Respectfully Submitted,
Dawn Bittner
Zoning Specialist
