MONTHLY STAFF REPORT City Clerk's Office May, 2011 Meetings City Council Meeting Ma 34 2011, Regular Meeting • Transferred $2,000 from Library Fund to Building Fund and made a loan payment of $2,000 • Presented Police Reserve awards • 2010 Audit presentation • Called a special Council meeting for May 23rd — Wilderness Resort Villas • Denied increase to yearly pension rate for Fire Relief members • Adopted a resolution approving joint powers agreement with the State of Minnesota and Pequot Lakes • Reimbursed Chamber $2,500 for past electric expenses • Called a special Council meeting for August 9t' to look at preliminary budgets • Approved new pay range for Police Chief salary based on an exempt status • Accepted grant from Valspar for stain and paint for the library building • Approved special event liquor licenses for American Legion �. • Granted loan extension to Lonesome Cottage May 10, 2011, Special Meeting • Held police chief interviews for two finalists • Motioned to make conditional offer of employment to Eric Klang • Entered into a contract with Pinnacle Personnel Screening for background investigation on new police chief candidate May 23, 2011, Special Meeting • Approved final plat for Wilderness Resort Villas Park Commission — May 12, 2011 • Minutes of the meeting are attached. The Park Commission postponed its parks tour due to weather. The tour will take place in June. The Commission discussed the following: • Location for new bike racks • Sign banner to advertise bands in the park • Master Park Plan Economic Development Commission — May 17, 2011 • Minutes are attached. The EDC has been discussing the potential of splitting the lots in the downtown area and in the industrialibusiness park in order to induce growth, increase the City's tax base and to get the best return out of the infrastructure. The EDC had many questions on the existing sewer capacity and discussed the need for a sewer facility use plan. Another item of discussion was the method in which the City charges for WAC and SAC fees. The EDC felt it
