City Council Minutes Page 6 <br /> July 5, 2006 <br /> Chief Braam updated the Council on the part time officer program. He <br /> indicated that the program is working well. He reviewed some of the <br /> benefits of the program. Chief Braam indicated that the $3,000 from the <br /> restorative justice grant will cover wages through the summer and <br /> community policing money will also help cover part time wages. <br /> COUNCIL MEMBER SJOBLAD MOVED TO CONTINUE WITH THE <br /> PART TIME OFFICER PROGRAM. COUNCIL MEMBER BOLZ- <br /> ANDOLSHEK SECONDED THE MOTION. <br /> COUNCIL MEMBER RYAN MOVED TO AMEND THE MOTION TO <br /> STATE THAT THE PROGRAM CONTINUES CONTINGENT ON THE <br /> AVAILABLITY OF APPROPRIATE FUNDING. COUNCIL MEMBER <br /> NAGEL SECONDED THE MOTION. THE AMENDMENT CARRIED 7-0. <br /> THE MOTION AS AMENDED CARRIED 7-0. <br /> Council Member Ryan requested the Chief to see what can be done to <br /> eliminate jake-braking in town. <br /> Chief Braam questioned if the Council was interested in pursuing joint <br /> efforts in purchasing and placement of civil defense sirens for Pequot <br /> Lakes and surrounding communities. It was the consensus of the Council <br /> to authorize the Chief to proceed and report back to the Council. <br /> 10. Maintenance Supervisor's Report <br /> Report presented by Mike Loven. Mike Loven requested the Council to <br /> waive the demolition fee. He also requested to use park dedication funds <br /> to'remove the building as this is part of the park develop process. <br /> COUNCIL MEMBER SJOBLAD MOVED THAT THE DEMOLITION FEES <br /> BE WAIVED AND THAT THE DEMOLITION BE FUNDED THROUGH <br /> PARK DEDICATION FUNDS. COUNCIL MEMBER NAGEL SECONDED <br /> THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 7-0. <br /> 11.1 Government Drive <br /> City Engineer Tim Houle reviewed the staff memo. He noted that staff is <br /> requesting the Council to consider authorizing the field survey and utility <br /> locations, storm drainage preliminary design and feasibility study of <br /> Government Drive.
