Pequot Lakes -Hwy 371 North
October 7, 2005
Page 9of15
from West Lake Street north to Jokela Street:
West Lake Street:
Northbound and southbound TH 371 traffic can turn off the highway onto West
Lake Street. Eastbound West Lake Street traffic can only turn south onto the
highway(they cannot turn left and head north on TH 371).
West Woodman Street:
The City is very concerned about safety and traffic patterns into and out of the
school.
The City wants at least a right-in from the highway onto West Woodman Street,
thus creating a"U" loop for traffic coming from north or east of the school into
the school on Woodman and out to the highway on Lake.
MnDOT wants the City to look at their local streets to see if they can create this
"U" loop.
MnDOT is not showing any access at this location, and has said that if there is an
access here, they would not financially support a service road between West Lake
Street and West Woodman Street.
The City believes a right in-right out(and at least a right-in) would benefit safety
and congestion for the highway, the school, and the City streets in this area.
East Woodman Street:
There is a right-in for northbound TH 371 traffic onto East Woodman Street.
The City believes having this also be a right-out would provide options for
northbound TH 371 traffic and would benefit the safety and congestion on the
highway, on CSAH 11/Main Street, and at the signalized intersection of the two.
CSAH 11/Main Street:
Full access in all directions and signalized.
East Sibley Street:
An access here was closed as part of the agreement with the DNR on a proposed
backage road going from Government Drive, across the Paul Bunyan Trail, and
connecting with Jokela Street at Front Street.
One Council Member said he believed there should be a right-in for northbound
TH 371 traffic onto East Sibley Street, and a right-out for traffic exiting East
Sibley Street.
CAMy Documents\City Clerk\HIGHWAY 37 1\Meetings\102505 List of Issues for City MnDOT mtg-memo.doc
