PEQUOT LAKES FIRE DEPARTMENT
MINUTES OF THE MAY 4, 2011 MEETING
The monthly meeting of the PLFD was called to order by Chief Nelson, 25 members
were present. The minutes of the last meeting were not read by a motion by Evenson,
second by Oaks, motion passed.
Truck and equipment checks were discussed. Engine 1 and 2 were good. Engine 2 has a
new first aid bag. Tankers 1, 2, and 3 were all good. Tanker 1 should have the dump tank
and mounting rack replaced due to the damage done during the Treehouse fire. Also the
plug in receptacle needs to be replaced. Rescue 1 is good and Rescue 2 needs a back -up
light repaired. The Water Tender and Grass 1 are good. The ATV trailer needs a side
lamp replaced.
The financial report is the fire fund balance is about $81,000.Our checking balance
tonight is $9406.51. During the month we deposited 20.00 for syrup and 1.21 for interest.
Expenses were 76.55 for pop and water, 60.12 for the key box for Engine 1, 72.08 for a
shut off valve for the generator, 197.00 for breakfast after the Treehouse fire, and 276.00
for CPR training for wives and children. We thought it was very important for wives and
children of fire fighters to know CPR due to the fact that statistics reveal fire fighters may
suffer a heart attack after returning home after a call. The scholarship balance remains at
$1951.65. We will donate $100.00 to the grad blast from our scholarship fund. Peterson
II motioned to approve the report, second by Hayes, motion passed.
The safety topic tonight is a review of the City emergency plan due to all the tornados
around the country this spring. The fire department is primary for fire and secondary for
search. We also are to help with downed trees. The Mayor is the head of the City and can
be advised by a higher up official. The roads and streets department, the Crow Wing
County Highway Department, and township road crews are responsible to keep all roads
open.
We received a thank you the Girl Scouts who toured the fire hall. Daren took
responsibility for the task.
The Pine River summerfest parade will be Saturday, June 25th at 2:00 pm. We will need
drivers for any trucks we send.
There will be a special auto extrication class on Saturday, May 21" from 8:00 am to 2:30
pm. Be sure to be there.
Training for our regular training meeting on the 18th will be make up tests and practice
for the water ball event.
When you respond for fire calls always do something instead of just standing around.
