"\ <br />"MINNESOTA BEAUTIFUL" <br />In Central Minnesota <br />A Project of the Initiative Foundation and Valspar Corporation <br />Applications Due: March 7, 2011 <br />Eligibility and Program Requirements <br />Minnesota Beautiful is a program where cities and nonprofit organizations in the Initiative <br />Foundation's 14-county region of Benton, Cass, Chisago, Crow Wing, Isanti, Kanabec, <br />Mille Lacs, Morrison, Pine, Sherburne, Stearns, Todd, Wadena and Wright counties may <br />apply for a grant to receive paint and coatings to complete various restoration and <br />beautification projects. The program is being administered by the Initiative Foundation in <br />partnership with Valspar Corporation. A goal of the program is to encourage local <br />volunteer involvement in the painting process. <br />Eligibility Criteria <br />� <br />✓ Projects will be selected based on how well they meet the following criteria: <br />• Visual impact of the project <br />• Public benefit to the community <br />• Volunteer participation and support (projects using a hired contractor to <br />complete the work are not eligible) <br />• Current and/or intended use of the structure <br />• Benefit to those "in need" <br />✓ Some projects that may qualify include, but are not limited to: <br />• Historic buildings, structures or landmarks <br />• Facilities for senior, disabted residents, or low income residents <br />• Community centers or other public buildings <br />• Murals or other visual impact projects <br />Ineligible Projects <br />✓ Some projects not within the scope of the program include denominational churches, <br />city maintenance, school project (exception of mural projects) or privately owned <br />facilities that do not meet any of the above criteria. <br />✓ The application process is not intended to be tedious.
