Park Board Minutes
January 11, 2007
Page 4
11 . Budget Update
Park Board Budget for 2007 is $15,200. Park fund balance is $42,300.00.
Sandy Peine stated that the Council made a motion for the Park Board to
spend down the balance and after 2-3 years they will levy for the fund.
Park Dedication Fund balance is $40,007.97. The Board could use this
fund to purchase playground equipment for the Trailside Park.
Commissioner Samuelson gave quote of approximately $6,400.00 for a
slide, merry-go-round, swings & sand box. That would leave
approximately $2,700.00 for something for older children.
12. Playground Equipment for Trailside Plat
Tabled for February meeting
13. Other Business
Mayor Malecha gave an update from David Anderson regarding Band
Concerts. He has written a letter to 10 different bands and is waiting to
hear if there are any commitments for this summer.
After he gets a commitment from these bands he will apply for a 3-Wings
grant to help with funding this project.
He would like to have the concerts on Saturday nights at 7:00 P.M.
starting the later part of June, the month of July and a couple in August.
He mentioned free popcorn and possibly selling soft drinks (maybe this
would help to off-set some funding).
He asked each band to let him know if they need sleeping
accommodations. We could possibly get a package rate for a large group
(not at our expense). If a military band is coming, it may be possible to
get the VFW or Legion to help with funds if needed or a meal. Asking
private businesses to support a band was also discussed.
