Cycle, Path, and Paddle sports equipment and clothing store is a visible spot
for people to see possibilities for healthy movement. Winter inventory
includes clothing that keeps you warm while skating, walking, and sledding.
The Trailside Center (Pequot Lakes Baptist Church) offers inside activities
for the cold weather months. The manager could publicize its schedule.
See the sidewalk painting page, which reminds me of the colors that Karen
Yundak painted on her "Hattie's Clothing" sidewalk. Could this idea be
implemented on other sidewalks near parking and paths? Exploring via the
paintings would be an incentive to continue walking.
Our three fitness centers could promote warm weather fitness ideas for
outdoors at a time when their members may not be inclined to use machines
indoors.
Local eateries and NFK can offer healthy nutrition selections on their
menus, encouraging good choices by their customers.
The local veterinarian and HART could identify paths and calculate
distances for heart-healthy pet walks.
Thanks for your consideration of these suggestions by the INITIATIVE
FOUNDATION to provide community leadership.
Sincerely,
/
Ann Hutchings
PO Box 558
Pequot Lakes, MN 56472
568-5102 home
cab@uslink.net
