The position is responsible for the overall direction and coordination of all police related activities. Minimum qualifications include an Associate's Degree in law enforcement or criminal justice; over seven years of experience in policing, including at least three years of police administrative/command; Certified as a First Responder and licensed as a Peace Officer in the State of Minnesota or eligible for licensure; Valid Minnesota Class D driver's license (or equivalent out-of-state), and must meet criminal history background requirements. The Police Chief directs and supervises 4 full-time staff inembers and administers the Police Department's annual budget of $525,000. Preferred candidates will possess strong public relations and personnel management skills, be community oriented, have excellent verbal and written communication skills, and have experience in preparing and administering a department budget.
