PEQUOT LAKES <br /> PARK COMMISSION <br /> – THURSDAY, JUNE 11, 2009 <br /> CITY HALL <br /> Members Present: Chair Tweed, Commission Members Jurchen, Johnson, Den <br /> Hartog, and Clement <br /> Also Present: Council Member Malecha; Mike Loven, Public Works <br /> Supervisor; Mayor Adams; and Sandy Peine, City Clerk <br /> 1. Call Meeting to Order <br /> Meeting was called to order at 4:00 p.m. by Chair Tweed <br /> 2. Approve Park Commission Minutes <br /> Chair Tweed noted the following correction to the minutes: Item 7B. "The <br /> Commission decided to place two park signs back to back" <br /> MOTION WAS MADE BY COMMISSIONER JOHNSON TO APPROVE <br /> THE MAY 14, 2009, PARK COMMISSION MINUTES AS AMENDED. <br /> — COMMISSIONER CLEMENT SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION <br /> CARRIED 5-0. <br /> 3. Brenda Meyers Presentation <br /> Brenda Meyers indicated she is working with local people who are <br /> interested in securing 210 acres of Potlatch land. She stated that the <br /> people are interested in preserving the property for equestrian use and for <br /> public use. She noted that there is possibly money available through <br /> grants and different agencies to purchase the land, but the land cannot be <br /> privately owned. She requested the City of Pequot Lakes to work together <br /> with other public agencies such as the County, the State and the DNR to <br /> acquire the land. <br /> The Park Board thanked Brenda for the presentation. The Park Board <br /> indicated that the City should at least be represented when this issue is <br /> discussed among different public agencies. <br /> 4. Park Brochure <br /> The Park Commission reviewed the second draft of the park brochure. A <br /> few changes needed to be made to the brochure. Discussion was held on <br />
