The statutes also permit up to $800 per year to <br /> be spent for awards and trophies as part of these programs. Presumably,this <br /> authority would permit statutory cities to create positions dealing with <br /> public safety. <br /> Minn.Stat.§410.33 Home rule charter cities may have similar authority in their charters.
