Park Dedication for Tall Timbers
The Park Board reviewed the Tall Timbers plat as it relates to park
dedication. Scott Pederson, developer of the plat, was present. It is
proposed to convert a 15.34 acre parcel of property from RV and tent
camping to year-round residential use by creating 15 lots. Mr. Pederson
indicated he is proposing to include a walking trail that leads from the
north of the property by CSAH 17 to the southwestern corner of the
property. Mr. Pederson suggested the possibility of connecting the
proposed walking trail to the Paul Bunyan Trail. He indicated this would
give people on the west side of the highway access to the Paul Bunyan
Trail. The Park Board discussed the maintenance issues regarding the
City accepting a trail. Discussion was held regarding accepting a trail
versus the park dedication fees. The Park Board suggested that one
possibility would be to accept both the trail and a portion of the fee. Lisa
Barajas indicated that the estimated market value of the property is
$249,000. It was suggested that a trail committee be formed. The
consensus of the Park Board was that there was no opposition to the
possibility of accepting the trail, but there should be further review
regarding trails including maintenance of the trails.
