MEETING OF THE PEQUOT LAKES <br /> PARK BOARD <br /> THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 10, 2005 <br /> PEQUOT LAKES CITY HALL <br /> Members Present: Del Anderson and Ron Schaeffer <br /> Members Absent: Trudy Jurchen, Faye Tweed <br /> Staff Present: Mike Loven, Street Superintendent; Mayor Malecha; and <br /> Sandy Peine, City Clerk <br /> 1. Call Meeting to Order <br /> Del Anderson noted that there was not a quorum present but that those <br /> present would still meet. <br /> 2. Agenda <br /> Del reviewed and approved the agenda. <br /> 3. 1/27/05 Park Board Minutes <br /> The Park Board Minutes were not approved due to lack of a quorum. <br /> 4. Park Board Members <br /> Chair Anderson submitted the name of Bob Needham as a candidate for <br /> the Park Board. Del suggested that Faye and Trudy be contacted for other <br /> possible names. <br /> 5. Flower Gardens <br /> Discussion was held about the existing gardens in the park. The Clerk <br /> indicated that there were some people interested in working on the <br /> gardens but that the whole project needed to be coordinated. Ron and Del <br /> decided that gardens 1, 2, 3, 9 and 12 should be removed because they <br /> would be affected by the Highway. Ron suggested more shrubs instead of <br /> flowers to help make the gardens more maintenance free. It was decided <br /> that it would be a good idea to get some workers and some sponsors for <br /> the gardens. It was also suggested that the City consider contributing <br /> some money toward the gardens to help those out who volunteer to do the <br /> gardens. <br /> Discussion took place about the highway encroaching on some of the <br /> -- existing park land. Mike Loven indicated that the park would be cut down <br /> in size about 1/3. The Clerk suggested the possibility of looking for more <br /> park land to replace the downtown park. Discussion took place regarding <br /> this and it was decided that land would be too expensive and if the land <br />
