I mailed out 100 letters to area business and service organizations in our community. (Letter
attached) So far we have received$600.
Received a call from David Elsenpeter from Lakes Bank as a result of the letter he received.
The Chamber of Commerce, Lakes Bank and hopefully Park Board will work together to light up
our town.
David from the Bank wants our town to look as good as Nisswa. He told me he will be
contacting some businessmen to see if they will get on board. He would like to see us develop a
program by supplying lights to businesses, or contract with someone to put all the lights up each
year. He is also looking for funding.
The Chamber will take care of lighting up the south end of the park, the Park Board the north end
of the Park and hopefully we will raise enough money for new fixtures on light poles to alternate
with our holiday flags.
Would Faye and Melissa walk town with me on Mon or Tues and draw a diagram of where lights
on light poles would go. If we don't raise enough money, maybe just hang the new fixtures along
Government Drive.
Dave also wanted to run a contest. We discussed the possibility with the Chamber of having a
Winter Wonderland theme with snowmen and snowflakes. Putting the decorations up right
before Thanksgiving and leaving them up through January. If we have a lot of snow have a
snowman building contest77779 Or get someone like Tim Leajeld help us with some artificial
snowmen. Open for discussion and ideas.
Spring of 2006 ideas-Downtown plan to use the small area North of Pestello's as a welcome sign
area to the city with some plantings, also we should be doing something with the area under the
Bobber Water Tower seeing that this is the trademark of Pequot Lakes. Something for everyone
to think about over winter....
