Fire Tower Property Update <br /> Mayor Malecha updated the Park Board in the City's pursuit of transferring <br /> the fire tower property from the DNR to the City for a future <br /> nature/forested park. She indicated that the Council adopted a resolution <br /> to the effect and stated that she is seeking community support. The <br /> resolution will be given to Senator Ruud who will work with the City on this <br /> endeavor. <br /> The Park Board indicated its support in pursuing ownership of the <br /> property. <br /> 6. Special Meeting Reminder <br /> The Clerk reminded the Park Board Commissioners of the special meeting <br /> with the Planning Commission on February 16th to discuss park <br /> dedication. <br /> 7. Other Business <br /> The Mayor indicated that last year the City received over $1,000 in <br /> donations for Christmas lights to be put on the light poles. She noted that <br /> if the Park Board is still interested, the lights can be purchased at a <br /> discount if purchased early. The Mayor indicated that we would need <br /> about $4,000 more to complete the project. <br /> COMMISSIONER SAMUELSON MOVED TO REQUEST THE COUNCIL <br /> TO AUTHORIZE THE EXPENDITURE OF UP TO $4,000 FROM THE <br /> PARK FUND FOR HOLIDAY LIGHTING TO BE PLACED ON THE <br /> LIGHT POLES IN THE DOWNTOWN AREA. COMMISSIONER TWEED <br /> SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 5-0. <br /> Discussion was held regarding the boat landing at Sibley Lake Park. <br /> Mayor Malecha noted that she is working with the DNR to see if they will <br /> help fund the project. She indicated that the DNR will give us the total cost <br /> of the project in the near future. <br />
