PEQUOT LAKES <br /> PARK COMMISSION <br /> THURSDAY, JANUARY 13, 2011 <br /> CITY HALL <br /> Members Present: Chair Tweed, DenHartog and, Clement <br /> Also Present: Council Member Malecha; Sandy Peine, City Clerk; Mike <br /> Loven, Public Works Supervisor, Mayor Adams, and Tommy <br /> Woog; EDC Representative <br /> (Trudy Jurchen's term and Everett Johnson's term on the Park Commission <br /> expired on December 31St. The City received no new applicants; therefore, there <br /> were only three members present on January 13th) <br /> 1. Call Meeting to Order <br /> The meeting was called to order at 4:00 p.m. by Chair Tweed <br /> 2. Approve Park Commission Minutes <br /> MOTION WAS MADE BY COMMISSIONER CLEMENT TO APPROVE <br /> THE DECEMBER 9, 2010, PARK COMMISSION MINUTES. <br /> COMMISSIONER DENHARTOG SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION <br /> CARRIED 3-0. <br /> 3. Water Splash Park <br /> Mayor Adams updated the Commission on the Council's discussion <br /> regarding the splash park. She noted that the Council made a motion to <br /> give the Park Commission permission to research a splash park. Tommy <br /> Woog was present to educate the Park Commission on water/splash <br /> parks. He stated that he has a lot of insight regarding this type of activity <br /> due to the business he is in. Tommy Woog stated that the middle of town <br /> would be the best place for a splash park. He suggested that the <br /> Commission research the logistics for a splash park such as: <br /> • Size of the Splash Park <br /> • Cost to maintain the pond <br /> • Who is responsible for the maintenance <br /> • How will the maintenance be funded <br /> • How much property is needed, especially if future expansion is <br /> considered <br /> • Is it necessary to hire employees to run the park <br /> It was suggested that a map of the park would be very helpful. It was also <br /> suggested that research begin by looking for cities that have this type of <br /> amenity (Hastings and St. Cloud). It was suggested that a form be drafted <br />
