PEQUOT LAKES <br /> PARK COMMISSION MEETING <br /> — THURSDAY, DECEMBER 9, 2010 <br /> CITY HALL <br /> Members Present: Chair Tweed, Commissioners, Johnson, Clement, Jurchen <br /> Members Absent: Commissioner DenHartog <br /> Also Present: Mayor Adams; Council Member Malecha; Public Works <br /> Supervisor, Mike Loven; Sandy Peine, City Clerk; Mayor <br /> Nancy Adams <br /> 1. Call Meeting to Order <br /> The meeting was called to order at 4:00 p.m. by Chair Tweed <br /> 2. Approve Park Commission Minutes <br /> COMMISSIONER JOHNSON MOVED TO APPROVE THE OCTOBER <br /> 14, 2010, PARK COMMISSION MINUTES. COMMISSIONER CLEMENT <br /> SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 4-0. <br /> 3. Water Splash Park/Trailside Park <br /> Mayor Adams addressed the Park Commission regarding the idea of a <br /> water splash park in Trailside Park. She explained that she brought the <br /> idea up at the business park group and there was a general consensus of <br /> the group that this would be a good idea. She stated that Angela Sandelin <br /> has offered to have a fund raising drive to accomplish this. The Mayor <br /> explained that the City cannot fundraise on its own, but there can be an <br /> independent group to raise the money and then donate it to the City. <br /> Cathy Malecha suggested that the City look at writing a grant for this <br /> project. The Clerk explained that this proposed project is just a concept at <br /> this point. She stated that the Council should be made aware of the idea <br /> prior to moving forward. The Park Commission concurred and asked the <br /> Clerk to inform the Council of the Park Commission's desire to move <br /> forward with this project. <br /> Discussion was held about the possible need for a restroom and changing <br /> room in association with this type of use. The Commission requested to <br /> have Tommy Woog come to the next Park Commission meeting to <br /> discuss this idea. <br /> David Kennedy was present and questioned if bathroom facilities are <br /> planned. The Park Commission indicated that it was too early to decide <br /> whether or not there would be a need for bathroom facilities. <br /> 4. Bicycle Friendly Community <br />
