Park Board Minutes February 9, 2012 Page 2 COMMISSION BRUSCH MOVED TO RECOMMEND THE PROPOSED MISSION STATEMENT TO THE CITY COUNCIL. COMMISSIONER ETTESVOLD SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 4-0. 6. Review Projects for 2012 A. Sibley Lake Park Mike Loven stated that the steps at Sibley Park should be repaired or replaced. He noted that if they need to be replaced, this would have to be a budgeted item in the 2013 budget. It was the consensus of the Park Commission to review the situation prior to making a decision on repair or replacement. Mike Loven noted that the Street light at the top of the steps leading to Sibley Lake is paid for by the Park Commission. He suggested that the Commission look at whether or not we should remove the light after the Commission can take a look at it to see if it is necessary. Discussion was held regarding the parking at Sibley Lake Park. It was suggested that changes be made to make it more aesthetically pleasing. The Mayor noted that the Planning Commission suggested putting in boat slips and renting them to residents of the City. The Park Commission felt that this would be a liability to the City due to the amount of vandalism that would occur to the boats. The Mayor suggested the possibility of selling the property and using the proceeds to develop a park somewhere else in the City. It was the consensus of the Park Commission to meet at Sibley Park in May to discuss these issues. b. Park Brochures Park Commission reviewed the brochures. The Mayor stated that Scott Pederson has offered to work on this project. The Park Commission felt that these brochures were important and should be completed as soon as possible. c. Flowers at Bobber Park and Trailside Park The Clerk stated that Faye Tweed has stated she will continue to plant and care for the flowers in Bobber Park. The Commission stated that many of the existing flower beds in Trailside Park need to be weeded. d. Bands in the Park
