PEQUOT LAKES PARK COMMISSION <br /> THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 9, 2012 <br /> CITY HALL <br /> Members Present: Commissioners Jeff Bruch, Dena Doughty, and Chair Pete <br /> Clement, and Karen Ettesvold <br /> Members Absent: Commissioner Faye Tweed <br /> Also Present: Sandy Peine, City Clerk; Mike Loven, Public Works <br /> Supervisor; Council Member Cathy Malecha; and Mayor <br /> Adams <br /> 1. Call Meeting to Order <br /> The meeting was called to order at 4:00 p.m. by Chair Clement. <br /> 2. 1/12/11 Park Commission Minutes <br /> COMMISSIONER BRUCH MOVED TO APPROVE THE 1/12/11 PARK <br /> COMMISSION MINUTES. COMMISSIONER ETTESVOLD SECONDED <br /> THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 4-0. <br /> 3. 2012 Budget <br /> The Clerk stated that she would be giving the Park Commission a budget <br /> update at each meeting. <br /> 4. Review Ordinance — Park Commission Responsibilities <br /> The Clerk noted that the Park Commissioners should read the ordinance <br /> to get a better understanding of their role on the Commission. She <br /> reminded the members that they are a recommending body and that all <br /> final decisions are made by the Council. She stressed the importance of <br /> the Park Commission as it does a majority of the work and study for <br /> programs, parks, etc. <br /> 5. Mission Statement <br /> The Park Commission reviewed sample mission statements. The Park <br /> Commission drafted the following mission statement: <br /> Park Commission Mission Statement— Pequot Lakes <br /> To enrich the quality of community life and promote activities for families <br /> and people of all ages and abilities, while protecting open space and <br /> natural resources for current and future generations; to be financially <br /> responsible; and be a liaison between the community and city <br /> government. <br />
