Park Board Minutes <br /> July 11, 2013 <br /> Page 2 <br /> 5. Marro Lake Nature Preserve <br /> Mike Loven informed the commissioners that the perimeter signs have <br /> been put in at Mayo Lake Nature Preserve. He noted that the proposed <br /> parking lot has been approved by Loon Lake Township and will be sent to <br /> the Minnesota Land Trust for approval. <br /> 6. Other Business <br /> Sibley Lake Park <br /> Mayor Adams stated she felt it was important to bury the overhead wires <br /> at Sibley Lake Park and to enlarge the street. She noted that it is <br /> important to make these improvements if we expect people to use the <br /> park. Further discussion was held by the Park Commissioners relating to <br /> the improvements. <br /> COMMISSIONER ETTESVOLD MOVED TO INCLUDE FUNDING IN THE <br /> 2014 BUDGET FOR BURYING THE OVERHEAD ELECTRIC LINES <br /> AND EXPANDING THE STREET. COMMISSIONER GIBBONS <br /> SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 4-0. — <br /> Splash Park <br /> Discussion was held regarding the building of a splash park. The <br /> Commission discussed funding for the park. The Commission felt that a <br /> splash park is an idea they would like to pursue. They also noted that <br /> location and funding were both issues that would have to be considered. <br /> The Mayor noted that fundraising could be done by a private group but not <br /> by the City. <br /> COMMISSIONER GIBBONS MOVED TO ENDORSE THE IDEA OF A <br /> GROUP OF PEOPLE TO PROMOTE A FUNDRAISING PROJECT FOR <br /> THE BUILDING OF A SPLASH PARK. COMMISSIONER NAGEL <br /> SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 4-0. <br /> 4. Sibley Lake Park – Dog Park <br /> The Commission moved its location to Sibley Lake Park. Sheridan Wilson <br /> was present. Sheridan suggested a size and location for the dog park. <br /> She explained that her 4-H Club is taking on the project and hopes to <br /> raise the money to construct the fenced-in area for the dogs. Discussion <br /> was held regarding the height of the fence. It was decided on a 5' fence. <br /> Sheridan will be checking on the cost for the fencing materials installation <br /> costs for the fence. <br /> 7. Adjournment <br />
