d. In any multiple occupancy structure qualifying as a shopping center, <br /> directory signs shall be permitted for each common public entrance. Each <br /> directory sign area shall not exceed a total of fifty (50) square feet and <br /> shall be located within fifty (50) feet of the common public entrance being <br /> served. Maximum height not to exceed twelve (12) feet. The size of <br /> individual business identification signing within the directory shall be <br /> established during the site plan review process. Attention shall be given to <br /> the possible number of tenant or occupancy bays which may be served by <br /> the common public entrance for which the directory sign is intended. <br /> 3. Shopping Centers and Industrial Parks Containing More Than Twenty (20)Acres. <br /> Where shopping center facilities or industrial parks cover more than twenty (20) <br /> acres of land, two (2) area identification signs may be displayed not to exceed 100 <br /> square feet in total sign area per sign and twenty (20) feet in height. Additional <br /> signs may be displayed subject to approval of the Council. <br /> B. Off-premise signs: <br /> 1. Off-premise signs are not allowed, with the exception of approved directional <br /> signs. <br /> Section 80-130 Paul Bunyan Trail Corridor Signs. <br /> A. Statement of Purpose: <br /> The Paul Bunyan Trail is currently Minnesota's longest and most scenic recreational corridor. It <br /> serves as an important part of the tourism oriented transportation network and has many unique <br /> natural amenities. It is the purpose of this section to restrict unnecessary commercial advertising <br /> within the trail corridor and limit signage to signs approved by the Minnesota Department of <br /> Natural Resources. <br /> B. General Provisions: <br /> 1. There shall be no signs placed within 150 feet of the centerline of the Paul Bunyan <br /> Trail in any zoning district with the exception of those facilities permitted before <br /> the effective date of this Ordinance. <br /> 2. No sign erected within 200 feet of the centerline of the Paul Bunyan Trail shall <br /> have an advertising area greater than 20 square feet. <br /> 3. All signs within 150 feet of the centerline of the Paul Bunyan Trail shall be <br /> reviewed by the Commissioner of the Minnesota Department of Natural <br /> Resources. <br /> Section 80-140 Nonconforming Signs. <br /> Existing signs which do not conform to the specific provision of this Ordinance may be eligible <br /> for the designation "legal nonconforming" provided that: <br /> 1.
