PEQUOT LAKES PLANNING & ZONING COMMISSION <br /> REGULAR MEETING <br /> DECEMBER 17, 1996 <br /> The regular meeting of the Pequot Lakes Planning & Zoning Commission <br /> was called to order by Chairman M. Jurchen on December 17 , 1996 at 6: 30 <br /> p.m. at the Pequot Lakes City Hall . Roll call showed M. Jurchen, C. <br /> Robideaux and G. Jenson all present . Absent were D. Gola and G. Welu. <br /> Motion by C. Robideaux and seconded by G. Jenson to accept the minutes <br /> of the previous meeting as presented. Motion carried unanimously. <br /> T. Russell reported that she had spoken with the Police Chief on the <br /> complaint received last month from Steve Baker regarding Alan Carlson' s <br /> vehicles parked on Vern & Linda' s property on Government Drive. The <br /> Police Chief spoke with all parties involved and has taken care of this <br /> complaint . No action was taken by the Planning Commission. <br /> Chairman M. Jurchen reported that the Council has approved the re- <br /> appointment of Greg Welu to the Planning Commission. He also reported <br /> that Sibley Township had not adopted the Joint Comprehensive Plan <br /> because they felt that the annexation issue should be removed from the <br /> plan as it was not in their best interest . The Township Board will <br /> continue to study the plan. <br /> Motion by G. Jenson and seconded by C. Robideaux to recommend to the <br /> City Council that David Oien be appointed to the Planning & Zoning <br /> Commission for a term of 3 years beginning 1/1/97 to replace Carol <br /> Robideaux who chose not to be re-appointed. Motion carried <br /> .:unanimously. <br /> Motion by C. Robideaux and seconded by G. Jenson to recommend to the <br /> City Council that Jerry Thompson be the alternate appointee to the <br /> Planning Commission. Motion carried unanimously. <br /> Mr. Dean Brandt was in attendance and presented information about <br /> himself and this proposed development on E 92' of Lot 1 and Lot 2, <br /> Block 3 , Coles Plat . He explained that the flow of water on N. <br /> Washington Street and Main Street from CR 112 empties out on his <br /> property (Lot 1 ) . The Commission reviewed a memo received from the <br /> City Engineer regarding the meeting they had with Mr . Brandt on <br /> December 16, 1996 at the City Hall . He is planning a 60 ' x 87 ' <br /> commercial building on the E 92' of Lot 1 . He requested that the <br /> Commission consider a variance on the overhang of his building, which <br /> would be 4' into the road ROW. After much discussion on the drainage <br /> situation, a motion was made by G. Jenson and seconded by C. <br /> Robideaux to hold a variance hearing on Wednesday, January 8, 1997 at <br /> 6: 30 p.m. at the Pequot Lakes City Hall pending the receipt of all <br /> necessary paperwork from Mr . Brandt . Motion carried unanimously. Mr. <br /> Brandt will file the variance papers December 20th, depending on the <br /> outcome of the council meeting December 19 , 1996 and the council ' s <br /> decision on the drainage problem on N. Washington Street . <br /> C. Robideaux left the meeting at 7 : 30 p.m. to attend to another <br /> .2 ngagement . <br /> John Pierron and Larrie Nelson were present from PLADO. They requested <br /> that a line of communication be established between the Commission and <br /> PLADO to work on the development of the Industrial Park. It was agreed <br /> by both groups to have a representative attend the each other ' s <br />
