� <br />� <br />City Council Minutes <br />February 1, 2011 <br />Page 3 of 8 <br />----------------------------- <br />COUNCIL MEMBER RYAN MOVED TO AMEND THE MOTION TO ADD <br />THE WORD "OF" TO THE LAST PARAGRAPH UNDER ITEM II. A. AND <br />THE WORDS "AND APPROVE" TO ITEM G.5. COUNCIL MEMBER <br />SJOBLAD SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 5-0. <br />Council Member Sjoblad explained that there is an area along the <br />alternate 371 route that may be available for commercial use. He <br />questioned whether the policy could have an affect on this type of use. <br />Sheila explained that there is normally a need for a development prior to <br />subsidies being granted. Council Member Sjoblad stated that he would <br />like the Planning Commission to consider the area west of the new <br />highway for a possible expansion of the business park. <br />THE MOTION AS AMENDED CARRIED 5-0. <br />6. Planning and Zoninq Department Monthly Report <br />Report received by Council. <br />6.1. Planninq Commission Report <br />Report received by Council. No Council action required. <br />7. Fire Department Monthly Report <br />Report received by Council. Council Member Ryan explained that the Fire <br />Board had been requested to serve Byron Township. He stated that the <br />Fire Board felt that Byron Township was too far of a distance for the fire <br />department to adequately serve them. <br />8. Police Department Monthly Report <br />Report received by Council. <br />8.1. Police Department Orqanization <br />Council Member Akerson distributed information that he had put together <br />regarding his ideas for the police department. The City Clerk also <br />distributed a suggested timeline of events to assist the Council in moving <br />forward with the process. The Council discussed Council Member <br />Akerson's information. The discussion entailed issues such as the <br />number of hours required for an administrative assistant and his proposal <br />�. for a department of 3 full time officers, 3 part time officers, a chief and a <br />
