AND THE WORDS "AND APPROVE" TO ITEM G.5. COUNCIL MEMBER SJOBLAD SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 5-0. Council Member Sjoblad explained that there is an area along the alternate 371 route that may be available for commercial use. He questioned whether the policy could have an affect on this type of use. Sheila explained that there is normally a need for a development prior to subsidies being granted. Council Member Sjoblad stated that he would like the Planning Commission to consider the area west of the new highway for a possible expansion of the business park. THE MOTION AS AMENDED CARRIED 5-0. 6. Planning and Zoninq Department Monthly Report Report received by Council. 6.1. Planninq Commission Report Report received by Council. No Council action required. 7. Fire Department Monthly Report Report received by Council. Council Member Ryan explained that the Fire Board had been requested to serve Byron Township. He stated that the Fire Board felt that Byron Township was too far of a distance for the fire department to adequately serve them. 8. Police Department Monthly Report Report received by Council. 8.1. Police Department Orqanization Council Member Akerson distributed information that he had put together regarding his ideas for the police department. The City Clerk also distributed a suggested timeline of events to assist the Council in moving forward with the process. The Council discussed Council Member Akerson's information.
