PEQUOT LAKES <br /> PLANNING & ZONING COMMISSION <br /> PUBLIC HEARING <br /> REGULAR MEETING <br /> FEBRUARY 29, 2000 <br /> The regular meeting of the Pequot Lakes Planning & Zoning <br /> Commission was called to order by Chairman F. Martinson at 6:30 p.m. in the <br /> Council Chambers of Pequot Lakes City Hall. Present were F. Martinson, J. <br /> Thompson, T. Saccoman and C. Clarke. Absent was G. Welu. Let the record <br /> show that G. Welu was present at 6:35 p.m. <br /> MOTION BY J. THOMPSON AND SECONDED BY T. <br /> SACCOMAN THAT THE MINUTES OF THE JANUARY l8"' & 25, 2000 <br /> MEETINGS BE APPROVED. MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY. <br /> The Public Hearing was tabled due to the absence of Dr. D. <br /> Teasck. <br /> BEST WESTERN WHITEFISH LODGE & SUITES <br /> Present was Judy & Jim Whalen, residents of Rice, MN who are interested in <br /> constructing a motel south of the new water tower. F. Martinson asked the <br /> Whalen's to present their plans for the motel to the Commission. <br /> Mrs. Whalen explained details of the motel. It will be a 54-unit lodge style <br /> building with log and stone exterior. The motel will be family owned and <br /> operated. It will be located on the south end of the Brunes Royce <br /> Development. There was discussion on the construction of the building, the <br /> infrastructure, landscaping and financing. The Whalen's added that they <br /> would like to begin construction in mid-April and be opened by November, <br /> 2000. <br />
