T. Houle, City Engineer from Widseth, Smith&Nolting explained that
MNDOT has a program called a Cooperative Agreement Program where they
see the value as "access control";having intersections a certain distance
apart. In return for eliminating accesses onto the highway, MNDOT would
participate in the cost. It was explained that funds should be available by the
year 2002.
Mr. Houle presented a map that was sketched where properties and right-of-
ways were located. He explained the possible areas for the corridors.
There was discussion regarding businesses that will no longer have direct
access from Highway#371. They would be using the backage road.
Mr. Houle added that MNDOT was pleased to hear that Pequot Lakes and
Sibley Township are looking ahead at some of these issues.
After much discussion F. Martinson thanked everyone for coming and told
them we would inform them of the next meeting.
There was a short recess from 7:40 to 7:46 p.m.
COMDENATION OF 190 GRAVDAHL
Mr. Martinson moved number 6 up on the agenda; letters received regarding
g
the Condemnation of the property located at 190 Gravdahl Drive. Present was
Mr. Mike Knuth who has lived next door to the above property for about 14
years. He explained that the property has been condemned before and the old
owner had done some work in the home. Mr. Knuth expressed he did not feel
it was up to safety standards at that time either.
Mr. Knuth voiced concern that the current owner will try to "fix up"the
home. He stated that the State Fire Marshal had condemned the home and it
should be demolished, as it is a hazard.
The Commission agreed that the property should be condemned and ask that
the Deputy City Clerk find out from the City Attorney what the time frame
will be for the condemnation.
