PEQUOT LAKES
PLANNING & ZONING COMMISSION
REGULAR MEETING
MARCH 21, 2000
The regular meeting of the Pequot Lakes Planning & Zoning
Commission was called to order by Chairman F. Martinson at 6:32 p.m. in the
Council Chambers of Pequot Lakes City Hall. Present were F. Martinson, J.
Thompson and C. Clarke. Absent were G. Welu and T. Saccoman. Let the
record show that T. Saccoman was present at 6:36 p.m. and G. Welu present
at 6:37 p.m.
MOTION BY J. THOMPSON AND SECONDED BY C.
CLARKE THAT THE NIINUTES OF THE FEBRUARY 29, 2000
MEETINGS BE APPROVED. MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY.
DISCUSSION FRONTAGE/BACKAGE ROAD
The purpose of this discussion is for the possibilities for a frontage/backage
road along Highway# 371.
F. Martinson explained that the City of Pequot Lakes and Sibley Township
had a joint meeting three weeks ago to initiate the first steps towards a
frontage/backage road.
Attending the meeting was the Sibley Township Planning& Zoning
Commission, Tim Houle &Mark Hallen of Widseth, Smith &Nolting and
adjacent resident&business owners.
C. Nagle of Sibley Township mentioned that the deadline for submitting the
application information to MNDOT will be in September. He added that there
are funds available through MNDOT and the City& Township could qualify
for 90/10 split due to the population size. This would mean the City&
Township would pay 10% of the cost for the road and MNDOT would pay
90%.
