2. DBA Wilderness Resort: Their letter answered all questions. Discussion
among Commission Members concluded that it was an existing non-
conforming use and is a problem rather than a violation.
3. Virgil Dahl: He has not responded to previous correspondence and contacted
again.
4. Lonesome Cottage Furniture Company: CUP on Agenda for next month.
OPEN FORUM: None.
OLD BUSINESS: None
NEW BUSINESS:
Chairperson Nagel read the following letter he had received from Jim Fruth:
Craig:
With the onset of a new banner law in the works, I am concerned about the future
of our Farmers' Market. Clearly a third of our traffic is tourists, first timers, who might
not stop except for banners indicating some of what we are selling. Our other two thirds
are locals and snow-birds who are also influenced by our banners, especially when they
(the banners) indicate `produce in season'.
We keep our banners neat. We put the up when we set up and take them down
when we leave. If Pequot Lakes were to enforce a no-banner rule, that would,
essentially, put us out of business. I beg of you to consider our livelihood when your
planning committee proposes a banner law.
Thank You,
Jim Fruth
Brambleberry Farm
4002 Davis Street
Pequot Lakes, MN 56472-3024
(218)568-8483
A short discussion followed indicating that their banners are tasteful and have nice
pictures of the seasonal produce being sold.
The next meeting will be held on December 19, 2002 at the old Sibley Town Hall.
A motion was made by Karl Moon, seconded by Tom Woog, to adjourn the meeting. All
members voted"aye". The meeting was adjourned at 9:20 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Dawn Bittner
Planning &Zoning Staff
